Welcome to The Village School MS

It takes a village to raise a child. - African Proverb

Who/What are you?

The Village is a small, family run business that focuses on equalizing education and making sure ALL students have access to opportunities for success.

What do you do?

We are dedicated to making education attainable to all students, regardless of their school situation. We bring passionate educators to our students to meet them where they are academically and to open doors for new hobbies and skills. We work hard to provide rigorous academic instruction in small group classes at an affordable price. We operate as a Cottage school for homeschool students, provide tutoring and academic support for public/private school students, and extra-curricular activities and camps for all community members. We also offer ESL and specialized tutoring to meet the needs of our community.

Is this like a "real" school?

Not really. We serve as the bridge between home and what most people would consider to be "real" school. Our homeschool students are still primarily homeschooled at home by their parents and we exist to offer support and additional opportunities. Most of our students only attend class one to two days a week. However, our aim for our students is to prepare them for whatever comes next: college, tech school, or the workforce. Our metric for success is different for each student. Our goal is holistic success and improvement, academics is just one facet of that.

Do you require a specific curriculum be taught at home?

No. We come alongside families wherever they are in their academic journey and no matter the curriculum they choose to use. We are happy to offer suggestions or input, but we do not require a specific curriculum to be used.

Do you accept ESA money?

Unfortunately, we do not.

Do you offer discounts?

Periodically we do offer discounts. We try to be as affordable as possible while still paying a fair wage and covering our overhead costs. If finances are a concern, please reach out. We do offer scholarship opportunities.

Are you a religious based program?

We are not. We are a secular program. We firmly believe that education should be available to all, regardless of their beliefs.

You're located in a Presbyterian church. Does that mean you are Presbyterian or that they have a say in your programming?

We are incredibly fortunate to have been afforded the opportunity to use our current space. With that said, we are not affiliated with the Presbyterian church or their governing body. The church has no say or influence in our programming. Periodically we may partner with the church or offer opportunities sponsored by them but we always make that very clear so that our families are aware and they can decided whether or not to participate.

Do you work with special needs students?

Yes and no. Each student has a different set of needs and we are always very upfront with how and if we are able to support those families. If your student needs extra support, please reach out to us so that we can meet one on one and discuss your child's unique situation.

What is the Scholars program?

Scholars are our students that need a little extra support. They may have a diagnosis that sets them apart from their peers or other unique situations that cause them difficulties in main stream classrooms with neurotypical peers. These students receive more targeted support in various areas and their benchmarks are tailored to their abilities/situations vs. their age.

How do classes work?

Please see our Class FAQ page for more detailed information.

Do you offer other activities besides academic classes?

Yes! We offer special events like science fairs and art shows, dance classes, game days, and camps during school holidays. We also take field trips during the school year to help enhance classroom instruction. From time to time, we also host members of the community for presentations.

What about your Veterinary Science and Small Engines courses?

These are special classes offered to high school age students. Enrollment varies so please reach out if you would like more information.

Where can I find the most up to date information?

Follow us on Facebook, "The Village School MS." We always post our public events there and keep our followers updated on our newest offerings. We also have a website: www.thevillageschoolms.com, but facebook is usually the best place to find day to day information. For current parents we have a school wide email list and a private facebook group.

When can we sign up?

We offer registration for our weekly classes twice a year in the Spring and in January. Camps have their registration details listed in their announcements.

How do I get in touch?

Email is the easiest way to reach us: thevillageschoolms@gmail.com. Email us to set up a visit, chat, or to enroll your student.

I'd love to support you, how can I help?

Do you have a skill that you'd like to share with our community? Would you like to make a financial gift? Do you have household items that need a new home? We would love to hear from you! We're always looking for new ways to connect with our community and support in any form is greatly appreciated. We also have a scholarship fund and Amazon wishlist set up for those that would like to help in that way.

You didn't answer my question!
